See You Soon!!

Wow, I can't believe it's already that time.. time too sign off and send you all onto your summer's!

I don't know about you all, but I am so happy to be home! It was so nice to take a shower last night and actually have some water pressure to get the conditioner out of my hair! It was also so nice to be able to come home and actually be able to enjoy being home without worrying about homework thats due within the next week. Oh you can't forget about the delicious home cooked meals! I woke up this morning to my favorite breakfast; crepes and scrambled eggs!

When I got on the airplane headed towards Minnesota, I took a second to just reflect on my first year of college. I feel like I have grown in so many ways. I mean during the first year of college, so much changes, but most noticeably, independence takes hold! During the first year of college you grow up so much, and it is such a great feeling to have accomplished freshman year!!

I hope everyone has a great summer and I will see you all again when the fall semester begins!

Time Flies...

I cannot believe that my first year of college will be over in a little over a week...

It is crazy to look back at the beginning of the fall semester and realize how much I have changed and grown over the past nine months.

College {so far} has taught me so much not only about school, but about myself as well. I feel like I know myself so much better than when I stepped nervously into my first college classroom. When people say college is about finding yourself and becoming who you are meant to be, they are definitely right. During this first year I've learned that so much stuff that I thought mattered, plays only a small role in life and growing up. I also learned that there are many things that you don't give much thought to as a kid, or even a high schooler, that prove to be extremely important. For example, the friends you chose to surround yourself with, as well as the importance of being self motivated. For me, I definitely realized that having that social life, school life balance is important; however, ultimately school does need to be the priority. There are going to be times when you lose track of the real reason that you are in Santa Barbara, or Isla Vista... which is to attend school in order to get a college degree, and thats normal. Everyone gets a little caught up in the 'college life-style' at some point or another, but I learned quickly how to get myself back on track and focused.

I feel like it was just a couple weeks ago that I was unpacking my boxes here in my dorm at tropicana gardens.. and as I write this, I am surrounded by boxes once again, getting ready to move out. Honestly, I thought that I would be excited to move out of trop, but it is actually such a bitter-sweet moment. I have so many great memories here with my roommates, and two of my very best friends are moving back home next year... so the goodbye's next thursday are going to be very hard to say the least.

I think that's the hardest thing about growing up for me. We are all on our own paths, proceeding with what is in our best interest which means we will indefinitely grow apart in some ways from those that we have established relationships as our life continue to grow and head in different directions.

Most of all over these past couple of months, I have learned that life is a journey, and you have to live everyday, trying your hardest to make the best of even the bad days because time sure does fly by and before you know it you will be graduating and moving on to the next chapter in your life
